A ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) is a Gaelic word meaning a gathering or social event.

 

Anybody can ceilidh dance and you do not have to be a good dancer.  Even people with two left feet can dance at a ceilidh! The band plays the music and the caller tells you exactly how to dance – that’s it!

 

The dances start off easy, so anyone who has never danced before can get up and have a go. You will soon realise that anyone can take part!
